Create Meaningful Impact
Takshila was set up in 1997 with the intention of creating meaningful impact on society. To foster learner-centric education, it franchised Delhi Public School at Patna, Pune, Ludhiana and Coimbatore sequentially in 1998, 2003, 2004 and 2012. To nurture potential and facilitate individual-cum-collective growth of village community in Siwan district of Bihar, it actioned Parivartan in 2011. To focus on quintessential facets of our culture through unique themes each year, it commenced curation of Takshila Yearbook in 2012. To bring together a diverse yet representative body of artworks from contemporary and indigenous art traditions of India, it has been building the Takshila Art Collection since 2014. To recognize, create and publish enriching literature and art for young readers, it brought Ektara into being in 2017 which through its centre in Bhopal has been creating magazines and books under the imprints Jugnoo Prakashan, Mynah and Cheenti.
To establish a forum for dispersing progressive ideas by eminent thinkers and practioners, it initiated in 2018 the Takshila Lecture on Architecture and Society, the Takshila Shiksha Vyakhyan and the Takshila Lecture on Contemporary Challenges to India’s Democracy. To unite the arts with its people, it conceived Arthshila in 2016 as an immersive platform that furthers artistic expression and creative experiences through the Art Studios in Parivartan since 2018, the publication of books and journal based on art, and the multi-art centres that were set up at Ahmedabad in 2021, at Santiniketan in 2022, and are soon to be launched at Patna in 2022 and New Delhi in 2023.
